Waiting
Is a series of Totems made to overcome the frustration that inhabited me during years of waiting to be able to achieve what I had in my mind for a long time.
During this time I worked on smaller canvases that were easy to place on a living room table. I trained myself to master lines and curves and to tame colors.
But beyond that I could finally free the colors through shapes which allowed me all the fantasies. But at that time I didn't yet have the color palette that I have today. 92 colors.
For example, when I started “cat’s eye” I couldn’t find a beautiful, luminous red. It was then that a painter friend told me “add orange to your red”. He was right, I suddenly had a beautiful, luminous red.
I needed drawings that would leave me free to reveal all the harmonies that would flow through my inspiration and believe me, they are infinite.

Colors have body, intensity, light. Some mix easily, others reveal themselves thanks to their neighbors. Others are resistant to certain mixtures. Sometimes you have to negotiate with her.

For years my Totems lived in black and white. My box of markers was still there but in my eyes nothing was intense enough to justify using my markers.
It’s the one that most resembles the totems I drew as a child. It’s the first one I made.
The outlines in a gradient of green came later. There are no complex shapes, just vertical, horizontal lines and a few circles and semi-circles.

I think it's my favorite, but I would have preferred a lighter gray.

Originally it was supposed to be multi-colored. But ultimately it was tones of blue that inspired me the most. However, originally each chakra has an assigned color.
Red for the Root Chakra
Orange for the Sacral Chakra
Yellow for the Solar Plexus Chakra
Green and pink for the Heart Chakra
Light Blue for the Throat Chakra
Indigo blue for the 3rd eye Chakra
Dark Purple for the Crown Chakra (the fontanel)

I wanted the colors to be in my own chromatic order.
This time the lines of each figure are not in black.

The geometric lines in my drawings speak of symmetry. I draw identically on the right what exists on the left. It's a question of balance.

I started by using the tiles from my school notebooks to draw. They represented a free space in which I could express my first works.
It’s the famous red that I wanted. If I had to do it again today I would put even more orange in my red.

If I had to do it again I wouldn't put the outlines in orange and red tones.

Interesting figures but I'm not sure I used it all well enough.
The fluorescent etheric body makes it possible to better distinguish the totems from its background.

I wanted it in tones ranging from yellow to gold and brown.
The photos do not do justice to this painting. In reality it is much brighter, which is a real shame. We can't see the gold.
I want to work with a maximum of two colors and several shades.
I still have 6 Totems ready to be painted.
Maybe one day.

Each figure is a universe over which I watch.
Each of my drawings is an opportunity to exhibit colors.

Putting colors side by side that we wouldn't necessarily associate with each other fascinates me; some fade depending on the tones associated with them.
It's a girl. She has earrings.
The top of the Totem bears an 8-pointed star.
It recalls the 8-pointed star of the Sioux Native Americans.
There are also 2 rugs, 2 peace pipes, 8 stars, 8 gray clouds etc…
It is a tribute to the Native Americans.

I wanted a totem for birds, 2 things absolutely had to be there, feathers and a beak.

I like it a lot, there's a lot going on in this mask
It was the first time that I ventured into certain color combinations that I had never explored before.
It happened to me when I was lacking in chromatic imagination to observe it in order to trigger inspiration.
