Totem

Is a series of Totems created to ease the frustration I felt during years of waiting before I could finally make what had been in my mind for so long.
During that time, I worked on smaller canvases that were easy to place on a living-room table. I trained myself to master lines and curves, and to tame color.
Beyond that, I could finally release color through shapes that allowed every fantasy. At that time, I did not yet have the palette I use today: 92 colors.

Colors have a body, an intensity, a light. Some blend easily, others reveal themselves through their neighbors. Others resist certain combinations. Sometimes, you have to negotiate with them.

The geometric lines in my drawings speak of symmetry. I draw on the right exactly what exists on the left. It is a question of balance.
